Red Spider Mite Control Phytoseiulus

We have two options for Red Spider Mite Control: !!<

  • Single introduction of Phytoseiulius approx. 2,000
  • 3 introductions of Phytoseiulius at 7 day intervals (each introduction will be approx. 2,000)

Damage

Red spider mites suck plant sap for food. Plant cells turn yellow, which can be seen on the upper surface of the leaf as small yellow spots. This reduces the photosynthetic area of the leaf. In bad infestations they may form webs.

Throughout large areas of the world Phytoseiulus persimilis is used as a very efficient predatory mite against spider mites. A Phytoseiulus mite is highly voracious and consumes daily about 20 spider mite eggs or larvae, or 5 adults. Under normal circumstances a Phytoseiulus population grows faster than a spider mite population and a single female predatory mite can lay high numbers of eggs during her life time. P. persimilis is able to clean up a spider mite ‘hot spot’ within days. Phytoseiulus mites can be applied on several greenhouse edibles such as tomato, sweet pepper, cucumber, melon, eggplant, strawberry, bean and ornamentals.

Phytoseiulus must be introduced as soon as spider mites appear, but not before. Monitoring is vital and then introduce the predators to the ‘hotspots’ as soon as they appear.

Please note that these are live creatures and on arrival the package should be opened immediately.
